Fine Artist Carolina Isabel Reyes was born in Chicago, in the late 1970's. She grew up in Edgewater, a very diverse neighborhood which added cultural depth and vision to her learning and creative experiences.
Reyes enrolled at Columbia College Chicago and studied Art & Design, taking an interest in Advertising art. She wanted to fuse the visual creativity and persuasiveness of her ideas. She began to realize that her morals and values began to oppose certain ideas about the Advertising studies. Reyes, later changing her major to Fine Art and it created a platform to explore her talent, and creativity. She studied: drawing, painting, figure sculpting, ceramics, jewelry, garment construction, mixed media, performance art, photography, and Digital. She developed a well-rounded knowledge and worked with different forms of art in which to express her self. She studied under Mario E. Castillo, American-Mexican Muralist where she acquired her use of color and glazing techniques.
In 2002, she received her Bachelors of Fine Art at Columbia College Chicago.
Reyes' work is Urban, Pop, and Surrealism taking the forms of paintings, garments, installations, drawings, and photographs. Her visions, consists of bright colors, urban landscapes, portraits, geometric shapes, text, and symbols, drawing attention to social issues, empowerment, and questions. Many of her paintings are inspired and created by her own photographs taken during her commutes in the different neighborhoods of the city of Chicago. Along these journeys, she observed the indifference, injustice, segregation, class systems as well as the process of gentrification and de-concentration in many parts of the city. Pop Culture, Advertisements, and its affect on Chicagoans in particular, is also something she explores in her work. She uses advertising techniques to engage her audience in communicating her message. She creates visual stories, questions, and awareness of issues, as described by Reyes, "My goal is to engage my audience to question everything, society, and the media and to seek their own answers. I want to create a platform where dialogue can be possible for my audience to be open to expressing their ideas, who they are, and how they feel.“

Reyes has exhibited her work at various galleries in Chicago: Humanthread, the Urban Art Society Gallery, Pop Up Loop Alliance Gallery, La Llorona Gallery, Art On Tracks, North Park University, National Museum of Mexican Arts, The Historic Flat Iron Arts Building, Rudy Lozano Library, and Quennect 4 Gallery. She has also been featured in the New York Times, Reclama, Extra News, Chocolate City.Com, and "The Starving Artist Diet" Book.
